Overview

The North Slope sub-neighborhood has been delivering new inventory to a sub-neighborhood that has mostly been, for better or worse, stuck in its ways. Lacking the prestige of its counter-sloping neighbor (Front Slope), Beacon Hill’s North Slope used to be a rather anonymous pass- through strip within our city. The labyrinth of narrow, one way streets (not to mention the grade of its slope) make this sub-neighborhood difficult to navigate by car or by foot.

Location

Nestled just south of Cambridge Street, the North Slope approaches the Charles River to the West and Government Center to the East. Easy walkability to the Financial District, Whole Foods, the Liberty Hotel, Mass General Hospital, and the State House make the North Slope one of Boston’s most convenient zip codes.

The North Slope led all Beacon Hill sub-neighborhoods in total volume, producing 24 $2M+ sales and over $88M in activity. Unlike other sections of the Hill, pricing here actually expanded, with average $/SF increasing more than 5% year over year.This reflects a broader trend we’ve been tracking: buyers are increasingly prioritizing layout efficiency, building amenities, and ease of living, even within a historic context. The North Slope — and developments like The Archer Residences at 45 Temple Street — continue to benefit from this shift.
